I had my first conference with parents today, 9 working days after I took over the school. It was a conference we arranged after consultation with the Parents Support Group, on the best day and time for me to meet the most important people in the lives of the young people entrusted to us.
The skies opened up this morning and poured a huge amount of water on the school premises. It felt good to see the three admin staff (thank you, Ms Hsu, Ms Chua and Mr Than for the good work) working together with me, to quickly bringing their umbrellas to shelter our students coming in from the buses and cars, to make sure they are as dry as possible when they begin their lessons for the day.
On 10 June, Kindergarten and Primary will hold Student Led Conferences. It is an opportunity for parents to get involved and communicate with your children about their learning over the year.
To book a tour or to leave us a message, simply fill in the online enquiry form below and when we receive it, a friendly staff from our Admissions or Student Support offices will attend to you within 3 working days.
The Parents Support Group met on 8 April. It was an opportunity for parents to meet our new principal and hear some of his plans for the school. Among the issues discussed were the Chinese programme and CCAs. We will send out a survey to students and parents to collect data on CCA preferences. Minutes are available on our website. If you are interested in joining the Parents Support Group or would like more information, please contact Ellen at email@example.com
It is my sixth week at Hillside World Academy and I am starting to get to know the school. I would like to thank students and teachers for their warm welcome and assistance during by orientation period.
We welcome Mr. Seah Poh Chua to Hillside World Academy! He comes to HWA with a wealth of experience from a number of different schools, including the Anglican High School, Tanjong Katong Secondary School and most recently, as the Director of Academics and School Administration of the Singapore Sports School, a specialized independent school.
A new year, a new semester and forty-one new students to Hillside World Academy. Welcome back to the 'old' families and a very wholehearted welcome to our new community members. Forty-one new students represent an increase in enrolment of over 15%. Soon we will be such a big school we will not be able to call ourselves small.
Hillside World Academy warmly invites you and your family to join us for a social Saturday barbeque! Any parents you may know who are seeking out schools for their children are also welcome to find out about us, and what more than over this casual meal on campus?
Whilst the haze may not have left us entirely, we can see clearly enough to witness so many subtly meaningful aspects of our living curriculum here at HWA. This month we highlight activities and events, which make connections within and beyond the school. The campus has come alive, with different sets of students involved in playing, sharing and learning right across the school. The eco pond has captured the attention of students, and while interaction with the pond’s life is still mostly informal, I see teachers engaging students in conversations about what they are seeing.
